Welcome to Adult Learners Week - He Tangata Matauranga 2009

Monday 7th - Sunday 13th September 2009

The Week is a UNESCO initiative to celebrate adult learners.

It also incorporates International Literacy Day, Tuesday September 8 2009

This year’s theme Learn for Today and Tomorrow  E ako mō tēnei rā me āpōpō emphasises the way learning has an immediate impact on the lives of adults and their communities but is also an investment for the future. In a time of economic uncertainty, adult learning enhances opportunities.

Dynamic Community Learning Awards 2009

Two outstanding community education providers will receive Dynamic Community Learning Awards during Adult Learners’ Week/ He Tangata Mātauranga, September 7-13. Congratulations to the two recipients Te Hononga ki nga Tupuna Trust from Manukau and Chinese Senior Community Inc from Wellington.

The Awards, sponsored by Mary-Jane Rivers, the McCombs-Rivers family and Alison Broad, celebrate community engagement, excellence and energy in adult community learning.
